Nerdnet.org is back up, after an 80-hour service interruption. Sorry, folks. Incidentally, all email sent to me at that domain since Saturday has probably bounced, so please resend it. And I obviously haven't been getting LJ Comment notifications either.
The old DSL modem was, in fact, b0rk3d. The new one worked, after the substitution of a straight-through cable for the crossover I was using before. Mad props to anyone who can explain to me why the new modem would insist on a straight-thru cable for connections to both MDI and MDI-X devices.
